MAAT CIMA

I have lived in beautiful Devon all of my life. I grew up in Exeter and started my accounting career as an apprentice on a day release programme with Exeter College. With the support of my employer, I completed my AAT qualification in 1996. I enjoyed it so much I went on to study CIMA through distance learning and qualified in 2006.

I have spent the majority of my accounting career working with local SME’s as either a Management Accountant or in more recent years, as a Finance Manager. I have loved getting into the heart and soul of these businesses to understand what makes them tick. I really enjoy identifying processes, information flows and the drivers of revenue and costs. Helping the business owners to understand and then use this information to make business decisions has been incredibly rewarding.

I am now ready for a new challenge and would like to help the accountants of the future to achieve their goals, and be the best they can be. I am looking forward to working with Accountancy Learning to make this a reality for their students.

I have now moved out of Exeter – only 8 miles to the Teign Valley! I live with my husband and our teenage son who are both football mad. When I am not at football training or matches, I can be found on stage with our local Amateur Dramatics groups, with dreams of being an extra on TV one day.  I also enjoy walking around our beautiful countryside, socialising with family and friends, and trying to play the piano.

My Motto:

You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.  Zig Ziglar
