“After finishing my A-level studies I was unsure whether I wanted to follow the ‘normal’ route of going to university so, instead, I stayed at home and began a casual job to fill my time. In March 2017 I was employed by Thompson Jenner as an office junior and a few months later I started working in the bookkeeping department and began my level 2 AAT apprenticeship.
Accountancy Learning has supported me throughout my studies and their friendly team have helped me in every aspect of the beginning of my career. I am now studying my level 4 and feel confident that, with the help of my tutor, I will complete my apprenticeship within my planned timescale in order to continue with further studies in the future.”
Katy’s manager said:
“Katy started with Thompson Jenner as a receptionist, but we soon realised that she had the determination, work ethic and intelligence to excel at almost anything! So we transferred her into our bookkeeping department, where she learnt all about VAT, CIS, postings and reconciliations. In tandem with her excellent support from Accountancy Learning, she soon passed her levels 2 and 3 and became a key member of the bookkeeping team. However, last year an opportunity to move into the accounts preparation team arose and Katy was delighted to step up into this role. Katy is now nearing completion of her AAT level 4, and we are so confident that she will pass with flying colours that we are planning to switch her onto training to become a chartered accountant, as soon as she completes her AAT! As Thompson Jenner’s training partner, it gives me great pride that Katy has developed into a really great student and such a valuable member of staff – however, more importantly, she really is a kind, considerate, thoughtful and bright person, which is why she is so deserving of this award!”
