The AAT is an internationally recognised qualification, so there is no need to be living in the UK to undertake your studies, or even sit your exams.
Although you may not be able to find a training provider that teaches AAT classes in your country, studying via distance learning or home learning would enable you to study anywhere. When studying via distance learning, you can choose a provider based anywhere in the world. However, there may be some logistical issues to address, such a receiving study material by post or your tutor contacting you by phone. When making enquiries about enrolling on an AAT course, do ensure that you let any training provider know where you are based – they will then be able to let you know if they can fully support you.
The AAT exams must be sat at an AAT approved assessment venue (exam centre), and these are located all over the world. You should find out where you can sit your exams before enrolling onto an AAT course, since your nearest assessment venue may be a very long way from where your live and/or work!
Students who live abroad but regularly visit the UK, may find it more cost effective to tie in sitting their exams during these trips. If this isn’t possible you can find a full list of International AAT assessment venues here
At Accountancy Learning we have several students living outside of the UK, including people who are studying whilst travelling between multiple countries. At AAT Foundation Level, all our materials are online so you can study anywhere so long as you have a computer or tablet and have an internet connection. At AAT Advanced and Professional levels, we provide textbooks (along with the online materials) and these can be posted internationally (although this does come with an extra charge).
Alternatively, we can post your textbooks to a friend or relative in the UK who could then send them onto you. If you opt for a tutor supported package, your tutor will be able to liaise with you via email; alternatively, we can arrange skype video calls so you can see one another when you are chatting things through together.
