AAT qualification well recognised? We would say so!
With 125,000 global members, the AAT is the UKs leading qualification and professional body for accounting technician and finance staff.
It is well recognised by employers and is often an entry requirement in the accountancy profession.
The AAT qualification is also recognised internationally. 4,000 of these members are now licensed by the AAT to offer a range of accounting and bookkeeping services and the number is growing.
Job Ads
When writing this piece for the website, I went onto the website of a local recruitment agency and looked at a sample of adverts for Accounts Technician staff. They included the following:
- Accounts Technician
“Applicants should have a strong background in accountancy practice, and preferably be fully AAT qualified.” - Accounts Assistant
This role would suit either an AAT qualified candidate or an active studier, though my client is equally willing to look at applications from unqualified candidates with a minimum of 2 years’ accountancy practice experience. - Accounts Semi Senior
They’re equally happy to accept applications from part qualified or fully qualified AATs, ACAs or ACCAs. - Accounts Semi Senior
This role would suit an AAT qualified candidate, or alternatively a QBE with significant experience in a practice environment. - Accounts Assistant
This role would suit an AAT qualified candidate, or alternatively a QBE with significant experience in a practice environment. Active ACA or ACCA studies are encouraged to apply and of course your ongoing studies will be fully supported.
Although many firms seem to be willing to take on unqualified staff with experience, AAT qualifications are mentioned in all of these roles.
There is no mention of the other bookkeeping/accounting technician level qualifications.
