ELCAS – Cheaper accounting courses for current or ex-military personnel
As of 21 April 2021, current or ex-military personnel who want to study for their Level 3 or Level 4 Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) accounting qualifications, will not have to pay their exam fees if they study with Accountancy Learning.
We have had approval from the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) that we can now include the costs of the exam fees within the overall course fee (a full breakdown of the costs is shown in the table further down this page).
Great courses to boost your career prospects
The AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting and the AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting are just two of the AAT courses provided by Accountancy Learning. We are one of only a few training providers across the UK that have signed up to the ELCAS scheme. The courses are a great way for military personnel to retrain and/or update their skills which in turn can open up several new career paths to them. Upon successful completion of these courses, students are well placed to find rewarding positions in accounts and finance departments, or potentially within accountancy firms, where they can further advance their accountancy training. Alternatively, they may wish to set up their own bookkeeping or accounting practice.

Costs and ELCAS Funding
As part of their commitment to life-long learning for members of the armed forces, the MOD advises its personnel to use ELCAS as a source of funding towards future learning. In doing so, military personnel who successfully access the scheme, can obtain up to 80% of funding towards their course costs.
However, these costs do not include the course materials, which have to be paid for by the student. Also, most military students have an ELCAS training spending cap placed on them of £2,000 per year.
The costs for the Level 3 and Level 4 AAT courses are broken down as follows:
